Carolyn Martini
“I always had summer jobs around the winery,” says Carolyn Martini, remembering a childhood among the vines and barrels of her family winery. “If I wasn’t working, I’d be driving around the vineyards with my dad - his version of babysitting.”
Now, as a director of the Louis M. Martini Winery, Carolyn is deeply involved with wine education, community affairs, and the role of the family business in Napa and Sonoma counties, as well as in the California wine industry overall.
Carolyn earned her Master’s degree at Rutgers University in New Jersey and stayed on as staff there when illness in her family called her back to the Napa Valley. Carolyn worked on the business side of the winery while her brother, Michael, made the wine.
Today, Carolyn continues her campaign to make sensible wine drinking a part of everyday life in America. “Americans traditionally drink wine less often than our European counterparts. It’s up to all of us who live a life with wine to try and make wine a fuller part of our culture.” |
