Our inaugural Cellar No. 254 Merlot is a beautifully structured expression of the variety. Enchanting aromas of fresh blueberries, Bing cherries, and ripe red plum mingle with hints of violet and dried mint leaves as they dust the nose. These notes are echoed on the supple palate where polished tannins and flavors of boysenberry pie and raspberry, as well as subtleties of baking spice, vanilla and freshly shaved chocolate carry through the long, textured finish.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Merlot Cellar No. 254 charges out of the gate with bold scents of preserved plums, boysenberries and Black Forest cake with hints of baking spices and fragrant earth. Full, rich and seductive in the mouth, it delivers decadent black fruit preserves and spicy flavors with a velvety texture and impressive freshness, finishing long and perfumed. 394 cases were made.

A barrel sample, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Merlot Cellar No. 254 needs a little coaxing to reveal notions of fresh black plums, blackberry cordial and wild blueberries with hints of dried mint, chocolate-covered cherries and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with juicy black and blue fruits, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and finishing with a spicy kick. 400 cases are due to be made.
