Something New is Happening This Summer

experience the full story behind our wines.

In summer, Napa Valley finds its pace — warm mornings, slow afternoons, and vineyards carrying the season forward with quiet purpose.

At Louis M. Martini, this is when the estate feels most itself. Doors open wide. Tables fill. Glasses are refilled as conversations stretch long into the evening. The air carries something hard to name — warm earth, possibility, and the particular peace of being exactly where you’re meant to be.

If you’ve visited us in St. Helena, you already know that feeling. You’ve sat at our bar, opened bottles with us, heard the stories that make this place what it is. Those moments mean everything to us.

Summer brings Louis M. Martini into full view — a winery rooted in its land, generous with its time, and built on the belief that wine exists to bring people together. That’s not a philosophy we arrived at. It’s simply who we’ve always been.

This summer, we’re adding something we’ve never offered before.

Introducing the Louis M. Martini Estate Tour and Tasting — a guided, 90-minute experience that takes you through the history, the people, and the hidden corners of this estate, with food and wine along the way.

More Than a Tasting. A Journey Through the Estate.

We’ve welcomed guests into our tasting room for decades. That’s not changing — and we’re as proud of that experience as we’ve ever been.

But we’ve always known there was more of this place worth sharing. The rooms that don’t appear on a tasting menu. The artifacts and bottles that have been here since the beginning. The spaces where the real story of this winery lives — in the walls, in the archives, in the people who show up every day to keep it going.

The Estate Tour opens all of it up.

Introducing the Louis M. Martini Estate Tour

This summer marks the official launch of the Louis M. Martini Estate Tour—an experience designed to welcome guests beyond the tasting room and into the heart of the estate.

Over 90 minutes, you’ll move through the estate with a host who knows this place the way a neighbor knows a neighborhood — with affection, with detail, and with a few stories you won’t find anywhere else. Food and wine appear along the way, chosen to make the experience feel less like a tour and more like a long, unhurried gathering with people you’re glad you met.

As the experience unfolds, you’ll hear the story of the Martini family: how Louis M. Martini helped rebuild Napa Valley after Prohibition, how collaboration and community guided the growth of the region, and how those same principles continue to inform how we farm, make wine, and welcome people today. You’ll meet the people who carry that legacy forward and see how the estate continues to evolve with care and intention.

By the end of the visit, you’ll leave with a closer connection to the estate, the wines, and the people behind them.

“This place was never meant to be admired from a distance. It was meant to be lived in. Walked through. Shared.”

- MICHAEL CLAYPOOLEstate Director

Where You’ll Go

The tour begins the way all good things at this winery begin: with a welcome and a pour.

You’ll gather together — wine in hand — while your host makes introductions and sets the tone for what’s ahead. This is a communal experience, and it starts that way on purpose. You’re not an audience. You’re a group of people about to spend 90 minutes getting to know each other over food, wine, and the kind of stories that make a winery worth visiting in the first place.

From there, the tour moves through spaces most guests have never seen — past artifacts and bottles that span nearly a century of winemaking history, into rooms that hold the kind of stories that don’t appear on any label. You’ll see the cellar, step inside the vault, and gather in spaces where food, wine, and conversation come together in ways your host and chef have carefully considered.

Along the way, there are pairings. There are people — three generations of the Martini family, whose faces and decisions shaped everything around you. There are wines that represent some of the most significant moments in this winery’s life, and a side-by-side tasting that makes the case for why the mountains behind our most celebrated bottles matter.

The experience closes with a final glass and the unhurried feeling of a day that earned its ending — something that changes a little with the seasons, but never loses its warmth.

The Story Behind the Place

In 1933, Louis M. Martini arrived in St. Helena with a simple, fervent conviction: great wine is meant to be shared. He built a winery on that belief — and then he built a community around it. He threw parties for his neighbors. He hosted opera soirees at Monte Rosso. He lit up the sky with fireworks for nearly two decades of July 4th celebrations, because he believed that joy — like great wine — is better when it belongs to everyone.

The generations that followed kept that spirit alive. Louis P. brought quiet ingenuity and a steady hand to the cellar. Mike pushed further — experimenting, innovating, and proving that a winery with deep roots can still surprise you. Three generations. One unbroken conviction: this place exists to welcome people in.
The Estate Tour is that conviction taken one step further. It’s the most complete welcome we’ve ever been able to offer.

You’ve Always Belonged Here. Now There’s More to Explore.

If you’ve been a guest in our tasting room, the Estate Tour is a chance to know this place in a way you haven’t before. The rooms behind the rooms. The stories behind the bottles. The people who make this winery what it is, in the spaces where they actually work.

And if you’ve never visited — if you’ve been opening our bottles at home for years and always wondered what the place behind the label actually looks like — this is your invitation to find out.

Louis M. didn’t believe in velvet ropes. He believed in neighbors. In making sure that everyone who walked through his doors felt genuinely at home — not like a guest being managed, but like a friend being welcomed.

The Estate Tour carries that same belief. You don’t need to know everything about wine to belong here. You just need to show up.

“Wine is for the people.”

- LOUIS P. MARTINI
