2023 Monte Rosso Vineyard Sémillon
Tasting Notes
The 2023 Monte Rosso Vineyard Sémillon is a true testament to the unique terroir and the age-old vines of our Monte Rosso Vineyard. Nestled high in the Mayacamas Mountains, the vineyard boasts iron-rich soils and a climate that has nurtured these vines for over a century. The Sémillon is beautifully balanced, offering a harmonious blend of vibrant acidity and rich, creamy texture. This wine is both refreshing and sophisticated, making it a perfect companion for a variety of culinary specialties.
"A light-bodied, racy and savory wine made from 130-year-old vines. Mineral, sea breeze, lemon zest and flint flavors on a crisp yet rather full and broad texture. It's an agile, lean style that’s unusual for semillon in California, and it’s so fresh and appetizing. Drink now or hold.”
Sourced entirely from our Monte Rosso Vineyard in Moon Mountain, the fruit for our Sémillon was hand-harvested then hand-sorted at our winery. The wine underwent 10-month élevage in 39% concrete egg, 37% new Austrian oak, and 24% used oak. It offers quince, white nectarine, honeysuckle, hints of guava, sea breeze, and struck flint aromas with notes of lime, Asian pear, and hints of juniper berry.
